Worlebury Woods WADAS Walk

(14.03.10: absentees, 6)

Rampant absenteeism struck with a vengeance on this walk, but four dedicated WADAS supporters met at the site of the new pier before heading up to the Iron Age fort on Worlebury Hill via the Old Quarry. The path led past ancient pits dug into the ground which, like the fort itself have recently been cleared of undergrowth to reveal their ancient structure.

We headed towards the sea, almost stepping off the end of the world, or so it seemed, as we descended the many steps and arriving at Prince Consort Gardens.

The party then worked its way around the coast, pausing at Anchor Point and entering the Life Boat Station to purchase second hand books.

On the way back into town we dropped into the Raglan Arms where we were taken in (again) by the decoy price-list on the wall, choosing a lot of beers that weren't on tap. However, after several minutes of guessing, drinks were successfully ordered.

Fortunately the annoying person with the loud voice wasn't there this time. A second round of drinks was out of the question as the smoke from the wood burning stove started to descend, reducing visibility to a few inches.

The party broke up at Ellenborough Crescent.
