Bumper Sloe Crop
WADAS (20.09.09, absentees 2, new guest member 1)
WADAS revisited its secret sloe larder in Worle (or was it Banwell)? This year the trees were heavy with fruit, in contrast to the last trip, when the entire harvest would have fitted into a single sample jar. So many sloes were picked that, once quotas were reached, attention shifted towards blackberries that were in equal abundance.
Carol decided to scrump some apples from a nearby garden (with blackberry and apple crumble in mind) but nearly suffered concussion when two heavy cookers fell on her head from high up in the tree.
WADAS assembled in Eastertown after the picking to drink cider and scoff delicious pickles and cheeses.
