Unexpexted wind in channel blocks passage.
(7.06.09, absentees: 2)
The eager explorers, augmented by two guests from Cambridge were expecting to board the Bristol Emva Cream and set sail to Steep Holm. Alas this wasn't to be, since the wind had swung around to the East, making mooring and disembarkation treacherous. Instead, WADAS regrouped in Uphill for a delightful picnic, this time in C & M's front room - as the rain was hammering down outside and nobody was really sure whether the garden seat/table construction would carry the weight of the entire WADAS contingent, even allowing for the above mentioned absentees.
After lunch the members voted with their feet, although it was hard grasping a stub of a pencil between two toes (quite a few spoilt ballot papers) some striking out on a scenic hike to the sewerage treatment works and back (by the above ground route) while others found Tescos a more alluring magnet. Then it was back to Uphill in the late afternoon sunshine for tea and cakes.
