Picnic at Crook Peak


WADAS took time off from campaigning against unnecessary suffix-ikins to celebrate Jo and Stephen's engagement with a surprise picnic at Crook Peak (10.06.07-absentees: nil).

It was a splendid walk in the Mendip Hills where a trail of discarded clothing and fashion accessories lined the route. Nobody was entirely sure whether these were intended to allow us to retrace our steps or they represented a succession of senior moments.

When the party reached the summit the ceremonial tablecloth was spread and the celebrations began. Jo and Stephen were presented with an engagement card demonstrating the versatility of the WADAS logo. Not only does it represent the seat of hiking knowledge but, incredibly, it also symbolises two hearts aflutter.

Chilled Champagne, delicious canapés and irresistible cake appeared from backpacks making a memorable picnic to celebrate this happy event.

Refreshing rain clouds moved in from the sea as the walkers headed homeward, retrieving Martin's hat, glasses................
