Animal Policy

WADAS is an Animal Friendly Society; perhaps on occasions too friendly as illustrated by this photo taken on the West Mendip Way Walk (5th June 2005- absentees: 1). However, we believe in a non-interventionist approach to rambling and leave the flora and fauna very much as we find it, unless of course it has already died. Where an animal blocks one of the official WADAS designated walks, as on the West Huntspill outing (9th October 2005- absentees: 1), the adopted procedure is to send a female member of the group along the path to check that the party will not scare (in this case two highland bulls) the livestock. A fully trained animal councillor is always at hand.
