Bleadon Ramble

Starting at the Queen's Arms (13.07.08, absentees: 2), the WADAS party charged up their liquid reserves before setting out on a picturesque walk on Bleadon hill. The route involved negotiating various footpaths in the bright summer sunshine.

Despite the familiar landscape, the trail was, for much of its length, unexplored. There were fields full of wonderful wild flowers, named by Penny (e.g. plantus madeupicus) and an intriguing, deserted looking timber house hidden in a copse.

Martin was implored to leave a horse unmolested along the way, which at one point ran down the slope on the same axis as Brean Down. It may be significant that if you extend this line eastwards it lines up with Shaftsbury.

The hot weather took its toll on the on the hydration of the WADAS throats, but fortunately the route ended up back at the Queen's Arms. This is where another liquid top-up was administered on the site of the old skittle alley.
